What is State of the City?

State of the City is the City of Houston Mayor’s signature event where the vision city’s future is announced. The speech focusing on Houston’s accomplishments and goals is given annually to an audience of business and community leaders. 

Where and when is this year’s State of the City address?

The State of the City 2026 address will be held in-person at the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel on Tuesday, December 8, 2026.

Who is coordinating and planning this year’s State of the City address?

At the request of Mayor John Whitmire, Houston First Corporation and the Greater Houston Partnership will co-host this year’s State of the City address.

What is the waitlist?

Should the State of the City 2026 sell out, we will open a waitlist and encourage attendees who have not registered for State of the City, but planned on attending, to join our waitlist. By joining, you will be notified should tables become available. 

Who can attend?

Anyone who purchases an event ticket can attend this year’s State of the City. 

Will the State of the City be broadcast virtually this year?

This year’s State of the City will be held in-person, however the HTV team will broadcast live on HTV’s channel and the Mayor’s Facebook platform. Check the City of Houston HTV website for more information.

The number of invites is dependent on the level of sponsorship participation.
