What is State of the City?

State of the City is the City of Houston Mayor’s signature event where the vision city’s future is announced. The speech focusing on Houston’s accomplishments and goals is given annually to an audience of business and community leaders. 

Where and when is this year’s State of the City address?

The State of the City 2021 address will be held in-person at the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Who is coordinating and planning this year’s State of the City address?

At the request of Mayor Sylvester Turner, Houston First Corporation is hosting this year’s State of the City address. The co-chairs of the coordinating committee for the 2021 State of the City are Energy Solutions and Business Services Vice President Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock, The Clifford Group President Cindy Clifford, and CenterPoint Energy.

Who can attend?

Anyone who purchases an event ticket can attend this year’s State of the City. 

UPDATE: This event is sold out and there are no walk-up tickets available.

If I am a paid Greater Houston Partnership (GHP) premier member, do I get a complimentary ticket(s) to State of the City?

GHP membership will not give you access to the event nor complimentary tickets to State of the City; however you can purchase ticket(s) or tables to the event here.       

Will the State of the City be broadcast virtually this year?

This year’s State of the City will be held in-person, however the HTV team will broadcast live on HTV’s channel and the Mayor’s Facebook platform. Check the City of Houston HTV website for more information. 

What parking options are available?

Valet-Parking is available on the East Drive of the Hilton (Avenida De Las Americas) at $21.

Self-Parking is available in the Avenida South Parking Garage at $15, located behind and attached to the Hilton Americas. After parking, take the elevator to level 2 and enter the Hilton via the sky bridge.

Arrive Healthy. Leave Healthy.
